BBC | Executive Producer & UX Designer
Whilst at the BBC, I developed several large scale online projects, working with designers, technical and content teams to deliver projects on time and to budget. This involved creating the detailed product specification, creation and launch of products for the non-commercial sector.
Several large scale online projects across BBC central, and BBC News.
Product specifications, prototypes, sitemaps, user flows and usability tests.
Part of a small team that developed the first BBC iPlayer. I was responsible for the product specification and content definition that formed the basis of the current iPlayer used today. I also contributed to the UX, identifying user flows, liaising with content owners and 3rd party vendors, briefing the creative team, managing user focus groups, and developing a communication process for triallists. The iPlayer technical trial won a Royal Television Society Technical Innovation Award in 2004.
BBC News Website
Working within the BBC News team to launch the first video service on the BBC news website. The service contained 24/7 video news updates. This was a database driven system managed by journalists via a bespoke content management system. I was responsible for creating the wireframes, paper prototypes and navigation flows for the front end user interface and then briefing the software developer and designer for implementation.
